For us, it is vital that we give back what we take by looking at fashion as part of the circular economy. It’s based on the principles of designing out waste and pollution, keeping products and materials in use, and regenerating natural systems. We aim to eliminate waste by designing with longevity ensuring the garment remains in perpetual cycles of use and reuse.
A garment’s life cycle begins with the fibre or crop it’s made from. We then consider how and where it’s woven, knitted or tanned into the fabric we use. Knowing the provenance of the materials we use has never been so important and we consider every element to create kinder clothing.
In order to allow you to make an informed choice, we offer insights into the sustainable attributes for each item in our collection.
Low mileage
Mileage denotes the total distance travelled as a garment is created and shipped from the mill to the factory and finally to our warehouse. Items that have a low mileage have travelled the least distance and therefore have had less impact on the environment
Low impact
Fabrics that are given a Low Impact status, are those in which the fibres have low water consumption, low green house gas emissions and a smaller environmental footprint overall. It is to be used as a guide to making greener choices
Low water consumption
Water is a precious natural resource. Natural fibres such as cotton tend to be the most water heavy. We are constantly working towards offering more fabrics with smaller water footprints such as organic cotton, linen, Tencel, lyocell, Ecovero, Econyl, Greencash, Newlife and recycled synthetics
Biodegradable fabric
Biodegradable fabrics are made of natural fibres. They are capable of being decomposed by living organisms into nontoxic substances thereby avoiding pollution
By-product leather
All the leathers we use in our collections are by-products. No animal is killed for our leather
Digitally printed
Digital printing significantly reduces the ink consumption, water pollution and energy usage due to the precision in which the print is applied to the fabric. The production process is therefore more efficient and environmentally friendly
Mulesing free
The practice of mulesing is an unnecessary and painful process for sheep. Therefore we only work with mills that source their wool from mulesing free suppliers
Natural Fibres
Natural fibres are materials made from naturally occurring substances produced by plants and animals and they are biodegradable
Organic cotton
Organic cotton is cotton that is produced and certified to organic agricultural standards. Its production sustains the health of soils, ecosystems and people by using natural processes rather than artificial inputs. Importantly, organic cotton farming does not allow the use of toxic chemicals or GMOs (genetically modified organisms). Instead, it combines tradition, innovation and science to benefit the shared environment and promote a good quality of life for all involved. Organic Cotton is about investing in water conservation, cleaner air, better soil and farmer livelihoods. Compared to conventional cotton, organic cotton uses 88% less water and 62% less energy
Sustainably sourced
It is vital that we put back what we take from the world. The source of the fibres and their production are the first stage in this. Moving to fabrics such as organic cotton, Ecovero, Tencel and recycled fibres means that we can be certain that we are not depleting the world’s resources in the making of our clothes
Recycled material
Recycled materials from old garments, scrap fabrics and plastic waste have been used in the production of the garment
Ethically made
Garments that are ethically made have come from factories that have signed our code of conduct ensuring the highest ethical standards are met. These include living wages, safe conditions, regulated working hours and strictly no child labour
Tencel?
TENCEL? is a LenzingTM branded lyocell fibre. An extremely eco-friendly option, TENCEL? is made from the wood pulp of sustainably managed forests. The cellulosic fibres are created with high efficiency and low environmental impact. This process recycles water and reuses the solvent at a recovery rate of more than 99%. Bio-degradable and compostable. It has a soft, draping quality that is breathable, strong and cool to wear. FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certified
Lenzing? EcoVero?
Lenzing? EcoVero? viscose fibres are made from natural and renewable raw material of wood from sustainable forests. Its production uses 50% less emissions and water than generic viscose fabrics, meaning it has a significantly lower environmental impact. It is soft to the touch and washes well
Econyl
ECONYL? is a recycled Nylon or polyamide made from discarded resources of plastic ocean waste, fishing nets, fabric scraps, carpets and industrial waste materials that would otherwise go to landfills. ECONYL? Regeneration System reduces the global warming impact of nylon by up to 80%. This system also reduces green house gas emissions and dependence on petroleum as a raw material. For every 10,000 tons of Econyl made, 70,000 barrels of crude oil and 57,100 tons of CO2 emissions are saved. Nylon or polyamide has the ability to be recycled infinitely without ever losing its quality which means it is just as good as using virgin nylon and, once finished with, it can go back into the recycling system for full circularity
Ecotec
ECOTEC? yarn is made in Italy and produced by a traceable and certified production process that transforms pre and post-consumer textile waste into a 100% cotton yarn. Using Ecotec yarns can reduce CO2 emissions by 46.6%, save 46.9% in energy, and 61.6% in water consumption throughout the complete process as well as repurposing waste. GRS and Oeko-Tex certified
Lyocell
Lyocell is known in the fashion world for its silk-like feel and soft drape, eco-friendly lyocell is a fibre made from the cellulose of wood pulp. It's 100% biodegradable and compostable, plus the closed-loop process used in the manufacturing of Lyocell means that the water used is recycled and no harmful by-products are let into the environment
Eco Cashmere
Our Eco Cashmere is hypo-allergenic, moisture-wicking, breathable, bio-gradable as well as finer, stronger, lighter, softer and approximately three times more insulating than sheep wool. Our Eco Cashmere is a 2 ply knit and consists of 50% pre-consumer recycled and 50% post-consumer recycled cashmere wool. Made in Italy and GRS certified (Global Recycling Standard)
Greencash
Greencash is an Italian yarn consisting of 70% recycled fibres and 30% lyocell. Warm and soft, Greencash has around 85% less impact on the environment due to huge water savings, reduction in pollution, waste, CO2 emissions and natural resources.
It consists of 10% post-consumer recycled cashmere wool. 30% post-consumer recycled extra-fine wool. 30% pre-consumer recycled polyamide. 30% lyocell, an eco-friendly fabric made from wood pulp from sustainable forests. It's 100% biodegradable and compostable, plus the closed-loop process used in the manufacturing of lyocell means that the water used is recycled and no harmful by-products are let into the environment. GRS and RWS certified

Newlife?
Newlife? is a polyester yarn engineered from 100% post-consumer reclaimed PET plastic bottles sourced and processed into a polymer through a mechanical process and spun in Italy. Recycled polyester reduces the dependence on petroleum and diverts PET bottles from landfill. Converting PET into recycled polyester uses less water, less energy and emits less green house gasses than the production of virgin polyester, thus reducing soil contamination and air and water pollution. Newlife boasts quality and performance equal to that of virgin polyester equivalents, but with considerable resource savings for the environment. Certified by GRS and OEKO-TEX
